We avoid inconvenient delays by keeping a full time scheduler on staff. Schedule changes are inevitable, but when they do occur it's our policy to notify you in advance so disruptions to your schedule are minimized.

An Abbreviated History Of Winston Brown Construction & Handyman Services
1973- Winston Brown const. was founded in Lawrence Ks.
1976- We grew into largest siding company in Lawrence
1979-We then expanded into framing and carpentry and added an office in Topeka
1981-I expanded into commercial and new home construction
1987-CBS television hired me to began a weekly remodeling show called HOME REVISION which ran every Saturday for about 5 years. This brought in many new customers which made WINSTON BROWN AND GARY BROWN household names.
1988 Remodeling magazine began rating our company. We remain in the top 1% of all remodeling companies in the nation. Married my wife Joyce, who now does all office duties.
1990 We started a new painting company called AMERICAN PERMA-COAT
1992- At the request of CBS T.V., we started another Saturday morning program, this time named AROUND THE HOUSE. After 2 years, I decided to drop the program because the remodeling business was growing so fast I had to dedicate my time to it.
1993-I bought a 4000 square foot building at 4015 w. 21st in Topeka We remodeled the main level into a state of the art showroom
1994- we began expanding our line of products and services: cabinet refacing, sunrooms, composite decking, replacement windows, entry door systems and more
1995-We were inducted into 'QUALIFIED REMODELERS’ TOP 50, for marketing skills. Joyce my wife and I turned our lives over to Jesus Christ. God has richly blessed our business and personal lives. Without Him, we would not be prospering
1997-We started WINSTON BROWN HANDYMAN SERVICE..
1998-The TOPEKA HOME BUILDERS ASS., appointed Gary to the board of directors. After 4 years, he was elected the first remodeler in THBA history to serve as President.
2007-A surprise bout with cancer changed my business outlook completely. The cancer was removed, and as of 2009 thanks to God almighty, I am cancer free. I sold the building where my showroom had been, to cut back on debt. We scaled the company back a bit so I could spend more time enjoying life.
2009- the recession has hit all of us in the construction industry. We are eaking out a living, but sales of new homes are non existent, and remodeling jobs are being shared with the other 400 remodelors in Lawrence and Topeka. Jake, my youngest son has taken over the Topeka operation and moved the headquarters to 5909 sw 28th. Gary is running the Lawrence office from 1501 Burning Tree Court.
SUMMARY - Winston Brown Construction is considered by many residents in Lawrence and Topeka as the pinnacle of remodelers. Our business practices are now and always have been, above reproach.
